Syracuse is a city
of a few
hundred thousand located in upstate New York. It is in the center of a
region bordered by Boston, New York City, Toronto, and Montreal. The
metropolitan
area around Syracuse has roughly half a million people, and all four of
the above large cities are accessible for a long weekend by airplane,
car,
bus, or train.
The Syracuse area and the surrounding region of Central New York provide access to cultural activities such as professional and university drama, the Syracuse Symphony and the Syracuse Opera as well as to lakes, waterfalls, hiking trails, and both downhill and cross-country ski trails. Explore the links below to find out more about us! An important fact about Syracuse is that the cost of living here is about 15% lower than the U.S. urban average. Follow the links below for useful information about activities and events in the Syracuse area. You may also wish to investigate our pages on transportation and Grad Student Life.
