The Syracuse University Experimental Particle

Graduate Student Projects

Our students are trained in both hardware and physics analysis.

Current graduate students are working on the following topics:

Nabil Meena has made the first statistically signifcant measurement of the decay constant of the charged D meson using the decay into a positively charged muon and a neutrino. This result has been published in PRD .

Radia Sia has made the first measurement of the Bs content at the Y(5S) mass of (21+/-3+/-9)%.

Jamila Butt is working on the suppressed photon transition from the psi(3772) resonance to a photon and a chi-state.

Laria Redjimi is measuring the inclusive semileptonic branching ratio and electron spectra in charged and neutral D meson decays.

Kolina Randrianarivony is working on the transistion from the Upsilon(1S) state to a fast eta-prime meson.

Kevin Zhang is working on measuring B meson production at the Upsilon(5S) resonance.

We now list some of the work of our graduated students.

Hajime Muramatsu studied the photon transistions from the Upsilon(3S) and Upsilon(2S) transitions to the Upsilon(1S), and the psi(2S) to the psi(1S). For Upsilon click here, and for psi click here.

Orlokh Dorjkhaidav searched for the production of baryons containing a b quark. For the PRD article click here.

Bayar Dambasuren found the first evidence for the rare decays B->phi K and B->phi K* that arise from a transistion of a b quark into three s quarks(b->sss).

Silvia Schuh analyzed the exclusive decays of B mesons to J/psi mesons in order to measure the fractions of neutral and charged B mesons on the Y(4S). She found that the neutral fraction is (49+/-2+/-1)%

Yuri Mukhin discovered the decay mode B->psi pi.

David He improved the measurement of fDs using the decay mode Ds->mu nu.

Xia Xing placed limits on the rare decays b -> s l+l-.

Chaouki Boulahouache is studied semileptonic B decays to better measure the CKM elements Vcb and Vub using moments. A paper can be found here.
