Condensed Matter Physics

Research in condensed matter physics explores the behavior of matter all the way from nanomechanical resonators and superconducting quantum devices to the shapes of cells. It encompasses hard and soft materials, pure theory, computation and experiment. Undergraduates have been involved, for example, in fundamental experiments on quantum computing and in simulations of microscopic patterns formed by particles on the surface of a spherical droplet.
